LPAI · Land ports internship scheme

Intern where India meets its neighbours

Integrated Check Posts · Cross-border trade · Border infrastructure

The Land Ports Authority of India builds and runs the Integrated Check Posts on India's land borders — the terminals where passengers are cleared and freight crosses into Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, Bhutan and Pakistan. Its internships put students inside that infrastructure, and inside the trade policy that moves through it.

Where interns are placed

Four divisions. One border economy.

A land port is a construction project, a customs process, a security installation and a data system at the same time. The chip on each tile is the size of the search it opens.

The network

Integrated Check Posts, border by border

LPAI's operational and sanctioned land ports, grouped by the neighbour each faces. This is the authority's published network — no portal figures are attached to it, because the portal does not hold per-ICP posting data.

Eligibility & what you get

Who can apply, and what it is worth

The scheme runs through your existing AICTE profile. Selection, duration and stipend are decided per posting by the division that publishes it.

MHA · LPAI Act, 2010

A statutory authority, not a vendor

LPAI was constituted under the Land Ports Authority of India Act, 2010 and works under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The attachment is to the authority itself.

Who can apply

Students and recent graduates in civil engineering, architecture, planning, logistics and supply chain, international trade, economics, law, IT and public policy.

Duration

Set per posting by the division that publishes it — short study attachments and longer project-linked ones both run here.

Certificate on completion

A QR-verifiable AICTE certificate, issued against the LPAI posting you were selected for.

On the ground

Work at the border, not about it

ICPs are live installations handling passengers and freight every day. Field attachments put you inside a working land port, not a case study of one.

Trade policy in practice

The authority sits where infrastructure meets Customs, Immigration, quarantine and the border guarding force — the whole clearance chain in one place.

One profile, every posting

Your existing AICTE profile applies here. No separate LPAI registration and no second document upload.

Stipend as posted

Where a division attaches a stipend to an internship it is declared on the posting itself and paid through the portal.
