About the program
Internship Description: We are seeking a highly motivated IoT Water Quality Monitoring Intern to assist in the design, implementation, and analysis of a digital monitoring system for water quality assessment. This internship provides hands-on experience in Internet of Things IoT technology, data analysis, and environmental monitoring, ideal for students or recent graduates in computer science, engineering, environmental science, or a related field. Responsibilities: Collaborate with the engineering and environmental science teams to develop an IoT based water quality monitoring system. Design, assemble, and deploy sensors to measure various water quality parameters such as pH, turbidity, temperature, dissolved oxygen, and conductivity. Assist in setting up communication protocols e.g., MQTT, HTTP, LoRa to transmit data from remote sensors to the cloud. Write and test code e.g., Python, C++, or JavaScript to enable data collection, transfer, and analysis. Develop dashboards and visualization tools to provide real-time data insights for users and stakeholders. Conduct field testing and troubleshooting of the monitoring system to ensure accurate data capture and transmission. Analyze and interpret water quality data to detect trends, anomalies, or pollution events. Document the system architecture, code, and processes to facilitate knowledge sharing and system improvements. Research and recommend potential system optimizations, including alternative sensors or IoT platforms. Qualifications: Enrolled in or a recent graduate of a program in computer science, electrical engineering, environmental science, or related fields. Basic knowledge of IoT platforms, sensors, and communication protocols e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi, LoRa, Zigbee. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or JavaScript. Experience with data visualization tools or platforms e.g., Grafana, Power BI, or Tableau is a plus. Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret environmental data. Good problem solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data accuracy. Benefits: Hands-on experience in IoT technology applied to environmental monitoring. Opportunity to work on a project with real-world environmental impact. Mentorship and training in both technical and environmental aspects of water quality monitoring. Potential for future fulltime opportunities based on performance and project needs. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the emerging field of IoT based environmental monitoring and contribute to meaningful improvements in water quality management.
