About the program

Mahagenco Koyna Generating Station Complex, Pophali is the largest hydroelectric power plant in India. Presently total capacity of Koyna Generating Station Complex is 1956 MW comprises of Stage III power station 470 MW 480MW, Stage III power station 480 MW, Stage IV power station 4250 MW and KDPH power station 218 MW.The internship program is to understand the core process related to Mechanical Engineering aspect used in hydroelectric power plants. Interns have the opportunity to understand the Hydro Turbines their types working, Intake Structure, HRT, Surge Well, EVT and Pressure Shafts, Governing Systems of Turbines, House Generator as Emergency Aux. Supply and its role in Grid Station Failure, Maintenance of HG, Types of Air Compressors their Maintenance , types of Bearings of Main Units, Importance of Rotor Jacking Unit and its working, Cooling Water System used for Generator, Transformer Cooling, Bearing Cooling. Fire Hydrant System, role of Emergency Water Tank, EOT Cranes and their Operation Maintenance, Introduction to various welding Techniques used in plant, also interns get exposure to the importance of various reports generated at workplace, maintenance schedules of Generating units etc. Thus, Interns can learn how their engineering studies get implemented on site.
