About the program
Law making procedure is not taught in any law college or Law University and it is also not part of the college curriculum. With a view to provide practical experience to the law students about Law making Procedure, Drafting of Legislation, Drafting of Rules, Notifications, Orders, etc., the Law and Judiciary Department, Government of Maharashtra has decided to conduct an Internship Programme for the students studying law in the State of Maharashtra, so that the said experience will be useful for their future career in law field. Accordingly, the Law and Judiciary Department, Government of Maharashtra has issued Government Resolution dated 24 November 2023 and Government Order dated 10 May 2024. Nature of the Internship Program a. Information about the working of the Government, b. Procedure of drafting Bills and Ordinances, c. Procedure of drafting rules and notifications under the Act, d. Procedure for passing of Bills in the State Legislature, e. Interaction with the senior officers of the Law and Judiciary Department, f. Information about different laws and their provisions, g. Constitutional provisions and their applications, f. Working experience with officers of the Law and Judiciary Department, g. Lectures on different subjects related to legislation and subordinate legislation, h. Visit to concerned offices related to Legislation. Number of Interns 5 Years Law Course: 6 students consisting of 3 boys and 3 girls will be selected. Eligibility Students enrolled in any Law College or University in Maharashtra studying in 4th or 5th Year of Five Years Law Course. A student should not be more than 28 years of age. Selection of Students a. Students will be selected on the basis of merit. The marks scored in MH CET Law or CLAT will be considered for selection. If two or more students have equal marks in entrance examination, marks of Class 12th will be considered for deciding merit. The Secretary, Legislation, Law and Judiciary Department will have all the rights regarding final selection of students. b. Total 6 students 3 boys and 3 girls from different Law Colleges or Law Universities will be selected on the basis of merit. c. In order to give opportunity to the students of different Law Colleges, Law Universities, only one student from one Law College or Law University will be selected. d. The List of Selected students will be displayed on the official website of Law and Judiciary Department www.lj.maharashtra.gov.in. e. Students who are not selected will not be communicated by any means. Place of Internship Internship Program will be conducted at the Legislation Branch, Law and Judiciary Department, Government of Maharashtra, Fifth Floor, Mantralaya, Madam Cama Marg, Hutatma Rajguru Chowk, Mumbai - 400032. Timing of Internship 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. There will be no working on Saturday, Sunday and other Government Holidays. Every student shall be required to daily record their attendance in the register.

- are from 5 years law course/BALLB/BBALLB/Other,
- and specialisation from 5 years law course/BALLB/BBALLB/Other,
- are available for duration of 6 Weeks
- have relevant skills and interests
Terms of Engagement
a. The duration of the internship shall be for a period of six weeks. b. Stipend of Rs. 10,000 Rs. Ten Thousand will be paid to the interns. c. Interns will have to arrange for their own accommodation. No accommodation will be provided by the Department. d. Interns will be assigned with senior officers of Legislation Branch, Law and Judiciary Department. e. Interns shall follow all the rules and regulations of the office. The Interns will have to attend the office as per the stipulated time. f. It shall be mandatory to follow and comply with the directions of the Secretary Legislation and other officers of the Legislation Branch. g. The Intern shall follow the confidentiality protocol of the Department and shall not reveal to any person or organization confidential information relating to the Department, its work and policies. h. In case of violation of any terms and conditions of internship by any intern, the Secretary Legislation will have all the rights to terminate the internship of such intern.
