About the program

This internship provides hands on training and technical exposure to power electronic converters and advanced control techniques used in modern Electric Vehicles EVs. The program focuses on the design, analysis, simulation, and practical implementation of power conversion systems that enable efficient energy management in EV powertrains. Interns will study the architecture of EV propulsion systems, including battery packs, Battery Management Systems BMS, DCDC converters, traction inverters, onboard chargers, and regenerative braking systems. The internship emphasizes bidirectional power flow, high efficiency converter topologies, and digital control implementation using microcontrollers or DSP platforms. Participants will gain experience in modeling and simulation of converters and motor drives using MATLAB Simulink or equivalent tools. The training also introduces PWM techniques, vector control methods, and basic real time control implementation strategies. Exposure to industry practices such as thermal management, EMI considerations, safety standards, and the use of SiCGaN devices in EV applications will be provided. The internship culminates in a mini project involving simulation and performance analysis of an EV power converter system.
