About the program
During this internship, the intern worked on the design and simulation of a solar powered electric vehicle EV charging station using MATLAB Simulink. The project focused on integrating photovoltaic PV energy generation with EV charging infrastructure to promote sustainable and renewable energy utilization. A detailed PV system model was developed and coupled with a Maximum Power Point Tracking MPPT controller to ensure optimal power extraction under varying irradiance and temperature conditions. A DCDC converter was implemented and controlled using MPPT algorithms such as Perturb and Observe PO Incremental Conductance to regulate the output power efficiently. The system also incorporated a gridtie inverter to enable bidirectional power flow between the solar EV charging station and the utility grid. Power electronics components, control strategies, and synchronization techniques were modeled to maintain grid stability, power quality, and compliance with grid standards. Simulation results were analyzed to evaluate system performance, efficiency, voltage stability, and charging characteristics under different operating scenarios. The internship enhanced practical knowledge of renewable energy systems, power electronics, EV charging technology, and realtime system modeling using Simulink. Tools Technologies Used: MATLAB Simulink PV System Modeling MPPT Algorithms DCDC Converters GridTie Inverters EV Charging System Simulation Learning Outcomes: Understanding of solar based EV charging infrastructure Hands on experience with MPPT control techniques Knowledge of grid integration and inverter control Exposure to sustainable energy system design
