About the program

During this internship, the intern designed and developed a smart home electric vehicle EV charging system incorporating Internet of Things IoT technologies for automated billing and peak demand management. The project aimed to improve energy efficiency, reduce electricity costs, and support intelligent energy usage in residential environments. IoT sensors were used to monitor real time parameters such as voltage, current, power consumption, and charging duration. The collected data was processed using a micro controller IoT platform to enable accurate energy metering and automatic billing based on consumption. Communication protocols such as WiFi MQTT were implemented to transmit data to a cloud platform or mobile web dashboard for remote monitoring. Peak demand management strategies were integrated to control charging during highload periods. The system dynamically adjusted charging rates or scheduled charging during offpeak hours to reduce grid stress and optimize energy usage. Simulation and prototype testing were carried out to evaluate system performance, reliability, and responsiveness. This internship provided practical exposure to IoT based energy management systems, smart EV charging infrastructure, embedded systems, and demand side management techniques.
