About the program

In an ongoing effort to prioritize skill development and bolster India's position as a digital talent hub, Cisco and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) have launched the latest phase of their internship program. This initiative aims to offer virtual internships in Networking, Cyber Security and AI through the Cisco Networking Academy and its affiliated partners. This collaborative endeavour between industry and government is designed to cultivate a skilled talent pool for the technology sector, contributing to the nation's digital skilling agenda.

This initiative aims to provide valuable learning opportunities and practical experience to students in the academic community, enhancing their employability and contributing to the advancement of the technology sector in India.

Key Details of the Virtual Internship Program

1. Eligibility: Students enrolled in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year engineering/technical/non-technical degree and diploma programs from institutions affiliated with the Cisco Networking Academy are eligible to participate. Institutions interested in joining the Cisco NetAcad can apply for membership.
2. Registration Process: Interested students must complete the registration process on the AICTE internship portal and proceed to undertake the designated courses. They can do so by contacting their NetAcad instructor at their institution and accessing the courses on netacad.com.
3. Course Completion: Students will be required to provide proof of course completion and a link to digital badges, marking an important milestone in the virtual internship program.
4. Industry Session: Selected students will have the opportunity to attend a Cisco industry session where Cisco technical leaders will mentor and guide students who get shortlisted for this program. Under the guidance of their NetAcad instructor, they will work on the assigned problem statement.
5. Project Submission: Upon completion of their project work, students must undertake a final quiz as part of the submission process.
6. Certificate: Eligible students who fulfil all criteria will receive a virtual internship certificate.

Terms of Engagement

Candidate Eligibility & Requirements We are seeking motivated individuals who demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and a passion for emerging technologies. Academic Standing: Open to students currently enrolled in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of a technical degree program. Note: Final-year students are ineligible for this specific phase. Institutional Affiliation: Candidates must be enrolled in an institution associated with the Cisco Networking Academy. Disciplinary Scope: Applications are welcome from all academic streams, provided the candidate demonstrates a foundational interest in technical infrastructure. Commitment: Full availability for the duration of the 8-week program is mandatory. Key Responsibilities & Deliverables Selected interns will engage in a structured learning path designed by industry experts: Curriculum Completion: Successfully finish all designated technical modules on the Cisco platform. Credentialing: Attain and present Digital Badges as verified proof of course mastery. Professional Engagement: Attend exclusive industry sessions and webinars led by Cisco subject matter experts. Applied Learning: Address complex problem statements under the mentorship of qualified instructors. Project Submission: Develop and submit a comprehensive final project.
