About the program

The Nagar Nigam Dehradun is the civic or urban local body that governs the city of Dehradun in Uttarakhand, India. It covers an area of 196 square km, comprising of 5 zones which is further divided into 100 municipal wards. The basic functionalities of NND includes Urban Planning, Property tax assessment, Planning for economic and social development, public health, sanitation conservancy, and Solid Waste Management to name a few. In accordance with The Urban Learning Internship Program (TULIP) launched by MoHUA (Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs), Nagar Nigam Dehradun invites applications for SANITATION AND SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT INTERN from Students, fresh Graduates under TULIP program initiative. Wherein student will have the opportunity to learn about current waste management practices, community engagement and outreach efforts by our Sanitary Inspectors. The students will also learn about policy formulation, implementation and day to day operations. The intern should be skilled in preparing documentation, presentation and communication.

Perks

As an intern in the Nagar Nigam Dehradun, students will learn to develop strategies and policies to address the challenges and opportunities in urban areas. It also includes conducting research, analysing data, and developing recommendations to improve the quality of life for people living in cities, working with officials and stakeholders to develop policies, and developing recommendations for policy changes. The intern shall be entitled to a stipend of 10000 rupees for travel and miscellaneous expenses and an additional amount of 5000 rupees shall be granted based on the performance of the Intern. Internship may be extended upto 1 year based on the performance of the intern. The decision to extend the internship of the intern relies solely on the discretion of Nagar Nigam Dehradun.

Terms of Engagement

1. Applications for internship will be accepted through the portal only. 2. Interns shall bring laptops and other devices etc. as needed by them. 3. The interns shall normally arrange their own accommodation and travel to and from their place of stay to the place of internship. 4. Nagar Nigam Dehradun may, however if they so decide, support the interns, in whatever way they may deem fit, with resources essential for completion of the assignment as per their discretion. 5. The interns shall be required to maintain confidentiality of all the documents, reports, or any information received by him or her during his or her internship period. The interns shall not reveal to any person or organisation any information relating to Nagar Nigam Dehradun, its work and policies. The interns may also be required to sign a confidentiality agreement mentioning appropriate terms and prior to the commencement of the internship. 6. This internship is neither a job nor an assurance of a job in Nagar Nigam Dehradun. 7. Notice period of one week will have to be given prior to leaving the internship and the intern shall not leave the internship without being relieved by Nagar Nigam Dehradun.
